Karnataka: A shocking event has shaken the city of Bengaluru, when the dead body of Om Prakash, a retired Karnataka Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG & IGP), was discovered in his residence in the posh HSR Layout locality. Prakash, aged 68 at the time of his death, was discovered lying in a blood pool on the ground floor of his three-story house, with visible wounds that indicate foul play.
Prakash's professional life was characterized by commitment and service to the country. As a member of the 1981 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS), he served in different important roles, such as Superintendent of Police in different districts, and worked in the state's Lokayukta and Criminal Investigation Department. His three-year tenure as DG & IGP of Karnataka, from March 2015 to March 2017, was characterized by his attempts to modernize the police force and enhance its effectiveness.
The police were tipped off about the crime by Prakash's wife, Pallavi, and arrived at the location around 4:30 pm. A case has been registered on a complaint lodged by Prakash's son, and the police are investigating the events that preceded his death.
